For the last five years, my facial hair was the enemy of my employer. I was told that my natural hairy beauty was to be more than endangered; in fact, it was to remain extinct if I were to choose to continue working there. In rebellion, I have quit my job to grow my stache, while raising money to save women around the world.
I chose Susan G. Komen to work with as a charity after my experience working with them in 2009. Three of my professors' wives were diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of 2008, and two passed away the following year. I was deeply affected by this as I had grown to look up to one of my professors as a father figure, whose wife was fortunate to be the one to survive breast cancer. Mrs. Kraemer continues her battle, as I grow my stache in support.
