Fund TeamGalea's 'Stache!

Day 30

Hey ladies! Believe it or not, we are both available!

Day 24

The elder of TeamGalea (Justin) has gone to the solo stache. He got a compliment today, a person said he looks like one of the Three Musketeers.

This day in mustache history May 24, 1984 – Ralph Sampson, one of the twin towers of the NBA’s Houston Rockets, became the first unanimous choice for Rookie of the Year since Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabar) of the Milwaukee Bucks in 1970. Ralph and Kareem both had mustaches at the time.

Day 22

Sorry for the delay in-between posts. The younger of TeamGalea (Stephen) went all the way to California to secure some donations for our cause. Right now he has the mustache of his favorite wrestler, Hulk Hogan. Justin has gone to the solo stache. When the mustache brothers re-unite on Monday, they will have an updated picture.

Day 17

This is Josh Blue. He is a stand-up comic. Blue has cerebral palsy and many of his jokes center on living with his disability, how he deals with it and how other people view him. Blue appeared on the Last Comic Standing to “make people aware of the fact that people with disabilities can make an impact.” He coined the term “palsy punch” during his final set of the final round of the show, when he said that the palsy punch is effective in a fight because “first of all, they don’t know where the punch is coming from, and second of all, neither do I.” One of Blue’s competitors said he has “an unreasonable amount of likability” while another of his competitors said “he is just a good guy”. Blue also joked that signing an autograph takes 45 minutes, and that to write down his phone number he has to find a “big ol' stack of paper.”

Day 16

Justin, the elder of Team Galea, is surprised Stephen’s ransom demands were answered so quickly. Justin will compose a ransom note by the middle of next week. In the meantime, it looks like Stephen will be rockin' the fu-manchu.

We are pleased with the momentum we gained last week in contributions and are ready for the home stretch. We will be pestering everyone who said ‘maybe’ and ‘I will’ over the next 2 weeks.

Day 13

TeamGalea would like to give a special shout out to Anonymous. Anonymous continues to show up on the donation list. Today’s donation makes number 3 for the month.

Mustache fact of the day: The only 4 U.S. Presidents known for baring mustaches are: Chester A. Arthur, Grover Cleveland, Theodore Roosevelt, and William H. Taft. Since Taft in 1909, all U.S. Presidents have been clean shaven.

Day 11

After 11 days, these are Team Galea’s expressions on donations thus far. Justin appears to be a bit frightened. Stephen, on the other hand, is waiting for a suitable donor to cheer him up.

Because Team Galea believes that the word did not get out. We are re-posting our ransom demand.

Stephen will shave: the chin for $25, the cheeks will go for $50, the soul patch is worth $100. Custom designs upon request for $150.

We will also post about any person in a very positive manner for $150. A guest blog post all to your own goes for $175.

For those who want to throw down the gauntlet, elder Galea (Justin) will match any donation over $275

Day 9

Salvador Dali represents the ultimate in mustache style. This man does not care what anyone thinks – he just does what he wants. Dalí was highly imaginative, and also had an affinity for partaking in unusual and grandiose behavior, in order to draw attention to himself. This sometimes irked those who loved his art as much as it annoyed his critics, since his eccentric manner sometimes drew more public attention than his artwork.

Please help us bring attention to our cause!

Day 7

We at TeamGalea love to use humor in our posts. In this post, we are going to take a step back and talk about our cause.

The term cerebral palsy refers to any one of a number of neurological disorders that appear in infancy or early childhood and permanently affect body movement and muscle coordination but don’t worsen over time. Even though cerebral palsy affects muscle movement, it isn’t caused by problems in the muscles or nerves. It is caused by abnormalities in parts of the brain that control muscle movements. The majority of children with cerebral palsy are born with it, although it may not be detected until months or years later. The early signs of cerebral palsy usually appear before a child reaches 3 years of age.

Cerebral palsy can’t be cured, but treatment will often improve a child’s capabilities. Many children go on to enjoy near-normal adult lives if their disabilities are properly managed. In general, the earlier treatment begins the better chance children have of overcoming developmental disabilities or learning new ways to accomplish the tasks that challenge them. Treatment may include physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, drugs to control seizures, relax muscle spasms, and alleviate pain; surgery to correct anatomical abnormalities or release tight muscles; braces and other orthotic devices; wheelchairs and rolling walkers; and communication aids such as computers with attached voice synthesizers.

The money we raise will help serve more than 176,000 children and adults with disabilities and their families every day.

Day 5

There are some amazing facts about the de facto leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (also known as North Korea). Did you know Kim Jong-il played his first-ever round of golf in 1994 and shot a world-record 38 under par. That round included another world record 11 holes-in-one.

The other fact I wanted to share with you is his world record mustache. Look at the picture above, that is the world’s greatest mustache.

Day 4

As promised, here is a picture of the younger of Team Galea. Now on to the business side of this transaction, the ransom note.

Stephen will shave: the chin for $25, the cheeks will go for $50, the soul patch is worth $100. Custom designs upon request for $150.

We will also post about any person in a very positive manner for $150. A guest blog post all to your own goes for $175.

For those who want to throw down the gauntlet, elder Galea (Justin) will match any donation over $275.

Day 3

Team Galea has a few tricks up their collective sleeves this year. We have decided to hold our mustaches hostage for donation money. Stephen will be starting with a beard and Justin will be starting with a goatee. We will be auctioning off symetrical parts for donations.

Pictures and a hostage list to come very soon. Stephen’s end goal is to look like Tom Selleck. Justin already believes he is Tom Selleck
