The final days
So, when my hair gets in my face, I am lazy and have often just jutted out my bottom lip and blown my bangs away.
A mustache stops this action from being able to happen.
A mustache gathers all the air (and as you know, we politicians, we can produce some air) and keeps it. It blocks my breath from doing its job and blowing my hair out of my eyes.
In the end this will be one of the reasons I don’t keep a mustache.
Thank you all for your support. I have already turned in checks that I have received, and we have raised over $300 for CHAT.
You guys are awesome!
The next stage
So, things I have learned.
The goatee made my face hurt. I couldn’t rest my head on my arms, because that would shove the hairs in to my face, and it hurt. I did not like that.
The lenghty mighty Stache
I thought I might be able to pull this off.
My face was quick to tell me no.
I am Cheating?
This past weekend an aficionado on Fund-A-Stache told me I was cheating. That there are very specific rules and by growing in a goatee I was flagrantly flaunting my lack of respect for the rules.
I needed to go home and shave my chin immediately, or be ashamed of myself for my brazen indiscretion.
I told her that she hasn’t given any money, so she doesn’t get to have a say.
This weekend I have a wedding to attend in Orlando. Please make a donation. Let me know if you are pro or against my goatee in your comments. Whichever side wins I will go with. If we make it all to way to my goal of $500 I will keep the winning facial hair through my next County Commission meeting on June 7th. Why is this important? Then there will be one more video of me broadcast out to the people of Wakulla not looking like myself—– but like some sinister movie villain instead.
In today’s updated picture I have tried to look contemplative.
Support Hair II
So yesterday’s post was on my goatee and how it was ‘support hair’– Today I want to play up the pun.
My whole facial hair combo is support hair- raising money for the needy animals in Wakulla. Which I can’t do without you guys…
I took this photo today at my parents house… ignore some of the chaos… but you might notice my parents new yard are – the giant rooster they’ve named Beauregard.
Thanks for helping!
Support Hair
I was mocked for my mustache. Everyone is when they start growing one—– or so I am told.
But I am vain, and the mocking was ringing true… so I grew in ‘support hair’ – that is the goatee hair on the chin. It looks a little more normal- less sinister. I am raising a little bit of money at a time and I really appreciate your support…. as do the animals at CHAT.
This picture is from past Thursday- I will try to get a newer one up soon. I am having some camera issues, but trying to make it work- this is a picture with the beautiful Beth Kennedy that we took together (on her camera) at the Young Elected Officials Network Gala.
What about a goatee?
Here is a picture of me in Bratislava in 2006- it was a two week trip and I decided to grow some facial hair while I was away from judging eyes.
I think the goatee look is a little less creepy then the mustache.
Thoughts?
Week One
After one week my mustache is starting to grow in- oddly, most people don’t acknowledge the change to my facial hair pattern.
That is most people outside of my family. Mother’s day was quite a treat – with my baby sister making fun of my mustache – just starting to fill in- every chance she could.
The Start
Here is a picture of me last Saturday, April 30, 2010. Clean Shaven at my sister’s college graduation. I shaved again on Monday (May 2nd) for the County Commission meeting- But I haven’t since then. I will update with a picture soon.
If this works, and we raise money for CHAT (http://www.chatofwakulla.org/) I will go the whole month of May growing a mustache. If it doesn’t- well- I prefer to be clean shaven anyways!
Let’s see how it goes!
